Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

FEES, INSURANCE & CANCELLATION POLICY

$80 or $160 or $190 for a 55-minute counseling session. This cost of therapy varies based on which member of our clinical team you decide to work with.

Unfortunately, Men Therapy Toronto does not offer reduced fees or a sliding scale.

Clients may be covered by their extended insurance for psychotherapy only if their insurance plan covers treatment by a Registered Psychotherapist (RP) or Registered Social Worker (RSW). Every extended insurance plan is different so clients must inquire with their insurance provider directly to learn whether they are covered.

No. Men Therapy Toronto does not bill insurance companies directly. You will receive a receipt after each session which you would need to submit to your insurance provider for reimbursement.

Yes, you will receive a PDF copy of your receipt by email after each session.

Men Therapy Toronto only accepts debit card or credit card payments. We do not accept cash payments. Payments are processed at the start of sessions directly with your psychotherapist.

Scheduled appointments canceled less than 24hrs before the start time of the appointment are charged the full session fee. There is no cost for any appointments canceled/rescheduled greater than 24hrs before the scheduled start time.

BOOKING A FIRST APPOINTMENT

To book a first appointment.

  1. Complete the new client online booking form

Your first session will generally be scheduled 3-7 days after completing the online booking form or calling in.

Each appointment is 55 minutes in length.

No. There isn’t anything you need to bring. During your first session, you will begin with your psychotherapist going over a brief informed consent form that outlines the limits of confidentiality. After that, you will have a chance to share with your psychotherapist the reason for your visit. Your psychotherapist will ask questions to help clearly understand your specific concern and discuss a potential treatment approach.

Yes, you are welcome to bring a support person. Men Therapy Toronto does not offer couples marriage counseling so the support person will be there simply as a supportive resource for you.

It depends. Some individuals start to feel better quickly as a result of simply talking open and honestly about their concerns for the first time. However, deeper level change does take time. The longer you have been struggling with your concern the more therapy sessions you will most likely need. On average many clients do show progress after 8 – 10 sessions.

No (insert big NO here). The individual coming in for psychotherapy is the only individual who can book the appointment.

What hours can I come in for an appointment for psychotherapy?
